1000000000

Some time within the next 24 hours i will turn one billion seconds old.

Most people have a hard time realizing just how big one billion is, so i am going to try to break it down a little.

In time:
One billion seconds is approximately 31 years 8 1/2 months
One Billion Minutes is approximately 1900 years
One billion hours ago dinosaurs walked the earth
One billion days ago the first multi-cell organisms evolve on Earth

In Distance:
One billion Millimeters - Salt Lake to Sacramento, Ca
One billion centimeters - Salt Lake to Shanghai, China
One billion inches - Salt Lake to any other place on Earth
One billion feet - Salt Lake to the moon
One Billion Miles - Salt Lake to the sun, there and back 4 times

In Money:
One billion dollars in $100 bills would be 2/3 of a mile high if stacked more than twice the size of the Empire State Building
One billion dollars in $1 bills would reach 68 miles high
One billion dollars in Eisenhower Dollar coins would reach 1242 miles
One billion dollars in pennies would reach almost 100000 miles, and it laid out could cover all of
the United States East of the Mississippi River.
One billion dollars in Iraq about 3 1/2 days.

I hoped you that helps you understand how big one billion is
If you are the type of person who likes to send as much money as however old someone is turning i would encourage that, but please write a check. Even if you sent it in $100 bills you would still need an envelope over 3500 feet thick.

did you know that One billion, eighteen thousand, one hundred and seventy-six Pennies
is the size of 5 school busses. And I am not talking about the short ones that you may be more familiar with. :)
